The majority of Tel-Hi participants are diverse, low-income, and live in northeast San Francisco. Tel-Hi youth and seniors face multiple risk factors including poverty, extensive unsupervised time, isolation, language and social barriers.

YOU CAN HELP: VOLUNTEER!
Tel-Hi volunteers serve as role models for young people, share special skills and knowledge, promote community service, and allow us to engage community members in Tel-Hi programs.

Volunteer Benefits and Opportunities with Youth
Promote our youth’s self-confidence, while helping them improve their academic performance and aim for personal success. Encourage creative learning and improve your skills working with children.

Be a tutor, mentor, reading buddy or enrichment specialist. We have opportunities to work one-to-one or with small groups of youth in preschool through eighth grade. Hours are flexible on weekday afternoons. Training is provided.

Volunteer Benefits and Opportunities with Seniors

Assist in improving the quality of life and well-being of our active and independent seniors. Be a part of one of the most friendly and supportive senior programs in the City.

Opportunities include serving lunch, giving presentations, providing entertainment, and assisting seniors with personal and health-related issues. Hours are flexible between 9am-1pm on weekdays.

People of color and men especially encouraged to apply.
We ask our volunteers to work at least one hour per week and to make a three-month commitment.

Ongoing support provided—Internship credit offered
