In 1890, two Grace Cathedral Sunday School teachers, Elizabeth Ashe and Alice Griffith, founded Tel-Hi to serve low income families on the western slope of Telegraph Hill. They offered classes for boys and girls, a day nursery, health clinic and operating room; and later added a kitchen, garden, gymnasium and library.
Griffith and Ashe devoted their lives to advocating for the disadvantaged residents in the Telegraph Hill area. As a tribute to their lifetime commitment, Tel-Hi has established a legacy fund that will make sure Tel-Hi can continue to serve the community they loved. By designating Tel-Hi as a beneficiary in your retirement plan, life insurance, will, or living trust you will become a member of the Elizabeth Ashe and Alice Griffith Legacy Society – and you will help ensure continued services at Tel-Hi and a stronger neighborhood community.
As a member of Elizabeth Ashe and Alice Griffith Legacy Society you will receive special recognition and invitations to Legacy Society events. Please contact Donna Faure, Director of Development at (415) 421-6443, x 34 or e-mail: donna@tel-hi.org for confidential information about providing for Tel-Hi in your estate plans. If you have already made plans to include Tel-Hi in your estate, please contact Donna so we can officially welcome you to the Legacy Society and thank you now for ensuring Tel-Hi’s future.
