Tel-Hi Introduces the Elizabeth Ashe and Alice Griffith Legacy Society

Published Thursday 03 of September, 2009

Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center has established a planned giving program honoring the legacy of our founders.  In 1890, two Grace Cathedral Sunday School teachers, Elizabeth Ashe and Alice Griffith, founded Tel-Hi to serve low income families on the western slope of Telegraph Hill.  They offered classes for boys and girls, a day nursery, health clinic, and operating room; and later a kitchen, garden, gymnasium, and library were added.

Griffith and Ashe devoted their lives to advocating for the disadvantaged residents in the Telegraph Hill area.  As a tribute to their lifetime commitment, Tel-Hi has established a legacy fund that will make sure Tel-Hi can continue to serve the community they loved.  By designating Tel-Hi as a beneficiary in your retirement plan, will, or living trust you will become a member of the Elizabeth Ashe and Alice Griffith Legacy Society – and you will help ensure continued services at Tel-Hi and a stronger neighborhood community.  For more information on planned giving and how to join the Legacy Society, click here.
