North Beach Neighbors

North Beach Neighbors Board of Directors meet regularly at Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center on the second Monday of every month. All members are welcome to join them.

Central District Police Community Relations Forum

Keepers of the Flame: A Jack Micheline Celebration

Poets A.D. Winans and Gerald Nicosia honor the 9th anniversary of their friend's death, poet Jack Micheline by reading his poetry and their own. Both poets were deeply influenced by the Beats, knew Micheline since the 1970's and were moved by his connection to the street and to the poor, whom he wrote about.

Ferry Plaza Farmer Market

Drop by to peruse stands hawking the finest Northern California fruits, vegetables, breads, dairy, flowers, and readymade snacks by a few local restaurants, farmers and entrepreneurs!

Drop in on Sunday from 8am to 2pm for the gardener's market, which focuses on plants but also has a bit of produce. A project of CUESA - the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture, whose mission is to promote regional sustainable agriculture through the operation of farmers' markets and educational programs. FREE CLASSES FOR THE COMMUNITY

Friday Night Club Program

Open to all middle school and high school youth. No cost to join. Friday Club is a year-round faith based youth program providing a safe and secure environment where youth can form lasting friendships with peers, develop leadership skills, and foster a deeper sense of Christian spirituality and faith. Club groups are encouraged to develop their own program of activities with the help of volunteer leaders and Cameron House Youth Ministries staff. Participants help plan activities such as community service projects, arts and crafts, social events, and retreats with an emphasis on spiritual, mental, social, and physical development.

There is no cost to join Friday Club, but all participants must turn in an updated registration form. Click here to download a copy of the registration form.

San Francisco Art Institute: Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series

Centering on the question of how art can continually position itself within our geopolitical situation, the idea of public sphere becomes quintessential to creative activity. Conversational Spanish and/or Conversational Italian

Classes are designed for members to enjoy ongoing language instruction.  Ideal for school, business, travel -- or simply personal growth -- these classes will give you language instruction the way you want it:  clear, simple and concise.  The variety and ease of Ms. Smithers-Hubbard’s teaching style, coupled with the use of CDs, CD Roms, and DVDs she encourages for outside practice, will have you using Spanish and/or Italian in no time!  Soon you’ll master vital vocabulary and grammar, while continaully building upon reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Ideal for those who’ve studied some Spanish or Italian before, this series provides a refresher and readies you for advanced studies.  The small group environment (10 students max) will allow for plenty of personal attention.  Twelve week program is $300.  Six week program is $180.  Lynn Smithers-Hubbard, 415-608-1307.
